Fukrey Returns is a sequel of 2013 release film Fukrey starring Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Richa Chadda and Ali Fazal which was a sleeper hit and became quite like cult. Apparently, the sequel Fukrey Returns wasn’t much to appreciate. As the Fukrey comes to be a sudden success, it is quite logical to come with sequel of the film. What doesn’t make sense here is the film not being cooked well on script basis.
Why vs. Why not to watch
Fukrey has not been anticipated for the success it achieved as it appears to be silently released film.
But apparently, It become a huge hit within time as terms like ‘ jugaad’ and character like Bholi Punjaban played by Richa Chadda and Choocha played by Varun Sharma got popular among youth. Due to the television rights, the film achieved great audience within the long span of time. You may go with theatres with similar or actually higher expectance but apparently the sequel is not much to offer. The characters are the same, which is great but no amendments has been done to their character development. Also you will miss something fresh to be offered at the plate. The return of this youth-cult film has become a slog. The plot of the film was not enough indulging as compared to the last film. Even the cast Richa Chadda and Pankaj Tripathi couldn’t save the film from the doom.
However the performance of Richa Chadda, Varun Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi and Pulkit Samrat is impeccable to watch. You will feel familiarity and connection to the characters which is a plus point but only if you have seen the first part of Fukrey.
The Delhi-dialect is entertaining in dialogues especially from Varun Sharma’ s character Choocha. Some of the gags in the film worked well on audience where you fall for the jokes. Fukrey Returns is more like average comedy entertaining film. At most, you can watch it at least once for the old sake. If you have loved the Fukrey, you will enjoy the Fukrey Returns as well. But if you are coming for the similar or more expectations, you might get disappointing on that.
