Filming a period drama isn’t piece of cake where Kapil Sharma starrer film Firangi proved well. Comedian-turned actor’s second presence on celluloid couldn’t spill much magic on the screen. The movie appears to be mess of romance, drama and satire, nothing concrete it turns out. Firangi is more like uncooked script with subtle bits and portions. The film features Monica Gill, Ishita Dutta, Edward Sonnenblick, Kumud Mishra and Rajesh Kumar in significant roles.
What is about?
Kapil Sharma is playing the character of Manga, jobless villager who apparently got the job under the order of Mark Daniels (Edward Sonnenblick). Manga soon fall in love with Sargi (Ishita Dutta) whereas Britisher and local kings are keen to conqueror the village.
They all want to make village evacuate the place and set the liquor factory.
Why to watch?
The comedy King got his best into the film, however his dramatic flair is unmatched. He used his deadpan face to make comic punches which hit quite hard. As a Punjabi villager, prove himself great dreamer and lover in the film. You will see him justifying the character. Kapil’s character with Ishita Dutt is cute and adorable to watch. Supporting actors like Kumud Mishra, Edward and Rajesh Kumar did fantastic job to support the story. The overall cinematography of the film is great.
Why to not?
Firangi is on quite loose on the storyline not much defining any particular motive of the film. Neither had it settled on social satire genre nor towards periodic romantic drama.
The film could be more concrete at whole giving a overall feeling of the film. Sometime it switches to a sweet periodic romance and sometime a dramatic social satire and that is without any constructive change. The film didn’t utilizes the fullest of the Kapil Sharma.
The Final Call
If you are fan of Kapil Sharma and his killer jokes, you may not get the best out of him in this film but still if you want to adore his acting skills, this could be good watch. However, the film is below average on any perspective. Some scenes are do good to be watched.
